SharkCon is an event that brings those who love the ocean together for a weekend of education and the fun of a Comic Con. SharkCon has something for everyone who loves the ocean. We have a huge interactive exhibit from our presenting sponsor The Florida Aquarium which includes games, trivia, and a shark tooth sand dig. Busch Gardens is bringing an exhibit with touch tanks, games, conservation information, shark, facts and information on their new coaster Mako. The Clearwater Aquarium is bringing an exhibit that will teach you about marine mammal rescue and they will have touch tanks. The 22 foot shark slide will be back and the pirate ship bounce house. This year there will be a pool to try scuba to give those who have never done scuba a chance to check it out. There will be 12 different activities for your kids through our nonprofit partners like Sharks4Kids, Tampa Bay Watch, and Shark Angels. We will be putting on a how to draw a shark, presented by Peppermint Narwhal. SharksSUP will be teaching stand up paddle board techniques. Over all there will be over 30 activities all completely FREE. There are speakers this year including our headline speakers Chris Fischer (OCEARCH), Anthony Ferrante the director of the Sharknado movies, and Eli Martinez from several Shark Week specials. All of our speakers will also be available for FREE autographs and photo opportunities after their presentations. Everything listed above is included in the price of admission. We also have over 100 booths of vendors that are shark, ocean, conservation organizations, and our sponsors. We have two vendors the shark ride and shark photo booth which are an additional charge. Parking at the Florida State Fairgrounds is $6.
The goal behind SharkCon is to raise awareness for ocean conservation by bringing in the general public and ocean enthusiast together to inspire a love of the ocean with general public through interactions with experts and exhibits and enthusiasts. For enthusiast, it will be an annual experience where they can celebrate their love of the ocean in a fun environment and a chance for them to hear their hero’s speak. We want both groups to then go forth and make a positive change for the health of our oceans. Through this we hope to raise money for the conservation efforts of our partners. We know this two pronged approach can ensure the health of the oceans for generations for those of us who love and want to protect them.
Past Speakers include: Sylvia Earle, Wendy Benchley, Steve Alten, Robert Hueter, Mark Simmons, Jose Castro, Julie Andersen, Sean and Brooks Paxton (Shark Brothers), Derek Burkholder, Annette Robertson, Mick Foley, Stuart Cove, Joseph Dituri, and more.

The event will be held at the Florida Fair Grounds, Tampa. It will be held Saturday July 8th, 2017 from 10 am-5pm & Sunday July 9th, 2016 from 10am-5pm. The idea behind Shark-Con is to bring all types and backgrounds of people (researchers, conservationists, boaters, scuba divers) together to share ideas, have a fun experience, learn, and come together to help the ocean. Sometimes people with different interests may disagree about how to approach the ocean and its needs, however, all of these people love the oceans and should learn to work together to make a difference.
We look forward to entertaining, educating, and raising money for Shark / Ocean conservation. We promise everyone/group that is involved with Shark-Con will benefit from their participation. We hope this becomes an annual event where these various groups of people continue meet, to discuss and learn from each other while educating the public.
